I Stopped at The Red Lion Inn for Lunch

I managed to snap a few pics of a very old part of the fire alarm system. Can you help me identify as well? Sorry for size, I needed to use Imgur, as the photos wouldn’t upload directly from my iPhone.

All the devices:

The break glass station:

The horn:

The bell:

I think this may be an old AdaptaHorn.

Is it an AdaptaHorn, or just some other generic vintage round horn?

That’s an Adaptahorn.

I thought so. Is it just me, or does it look painted?

Nope, that is the color that Edwards 380 came from the factory. That horn is actually extremely overkill for that small of a place.

What wasn’t overkill in its time period?

I’ve stopped in the Red Lion Inn a few times, and I will say it’s a very interesting place to stop in and look around. Aside from the fact that they kept the old victorian-era birdcage elevator (I can discuss more about this some other time), I find it interesting that they kept a portion of the old fire alarm system as well!

The break glass station is interesting. I have not seen anything like that anywhere else.

Interestingly enough, that is an older Notifier bell. I’m not sure what this is a part of, quite possibly the bell for the birdcage elevator adjacent to that wall. If you look closely at the bell, you might be able to read out “Notifier” on it. Here’s an image of that bell.

I wonder that too. Odd thing is the newer system looks like it was built in. Unless, they replaced the older devices; unlikely given the new pulls are at ADA height.

Do you have any comments, NewEnglandElevators?
