Interesting box

Why does this box say Fire Lite and Notifier

I have no idea, but take note of the fact that under Notifier’s logo is “A Pittway Company”. Pittway Corporation was the owner of both Notifier & Fire-Lite at one time (they’re now owned by Honeywell along with Fire-Lite & Notifier).

On a related note, that rendition of the Fire-Lite logo looks very weird: the font’s different, the eye is more tilted to the left, & the lines leading from each side of it are less curved than they are usually.

Same company. Fire Lite is the basic of basic, Notifier is more advanced, and then Honeywell is more larger scale and proprietary.

Yeah: Fire-Lite & Notifier have had the same owner for a while now (first Pittway, then Honeywell). Honeywell doesn’t really use their own brand name on life safety products though, or at least not anymore (aside from having “By Honeywell” below the logo of each brand they own & more recently “Honeywell” above said logos instead).

Fire-lite and notifier were owned by pittway

Yes: I already said that (& also that in 2000 Honeywell acquired Pittway, thus giving them ownership of all the companies Pittway owned, including Fire-Lite & Notifier).

This isn’t the only instance where I’ve seen Notifier devices or packaging with unusual branding. Fire-Lite-branded versions of Notifier’s MPS-950B pull stations are packaged in boxes that feature the Notifier logo; the only difference is the “F” at the end of the model number (MPS-950BF):

Fire-Lite MPS-950BF

Moreover, a few years ago, I came across a listing for a bell that featured both the Notifier and System Sensor logos on its label:

Both pictures are from past eBay listings.

Huh, never seen a bell like that one before (nor the logo either).

I like that logo! I’ve never seen it either
