Interesting / Unusual Alarm System Vids

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSensDfIXOk - Rare to find–4050 horns in continuous.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsmPrK5b7O8 - 4" bell in slow march time (60 bpm).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuKUg7sdhK0 - Very interesting–I suspect these are National Time branded Faraday horn/strobes (rather uncommon, as National Time is more exclusive to the Michigan area), and the reason I say this is because you can just barely make out a 641 behind a Stopper II cover at :11. The signal coding is also interesting; it is a code-3 w/ longer horn intervals and less time in between each round. The strobes also flash at a faster rate than normal…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EHbaQlHzZ0 Another EST system doing the “Morse-U” pattern.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ0HUkgIroY&feature=relmfu - (bad quality) Quite rare–AV32 light plates w/ what sound like Simplex 9818 horns; signal coding is continuous.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITWT7S6tA84 - A rare, futuristic “warble-yelp” tone coming from a fire and burglary system.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIYqfYHSgfk - This interesting video has an old detector that is sprayed, which then sets off an (unseen) alarm coded to wail. The last part of the video shows the panel, which is rather small…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI8esuqEEh8 - German/English voice-evac system w/ ascending chimes.

Wow, the first one.

That smoke detector is OLD! It even has incandescent lamps, see that?

Also, they are using mechanical sirens as the signals. Judging by the appearance of the smoke and the panel, this is not from the US.

Still a great find though!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw2FuTQe87g - (bad quality) 10" bells w/ separate strobes (Potter?) in continuous–I find this significant since many systems do not use a bell/strobe configuration, especially when both notification appiances are separately installed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKLEH-4PTwc - A white speaker-only alarm at the end of a continuous tone, followed by some sounds of moving objects audibly heard from the speaker; rather uncommon, since I have never seen this kind of alarm before, let alone hear background noise afterwards. Does anybody know what kind of alarm this is?

Sounds like someone picked up the mic on the VECP, rustled it, went “Oh crap” and put it back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MauUTm6Dffw - Another uncommon sight–an older panel displaying some sort of trouble mode; the interesting thing about this one is that the panel is located aboard an English boat, and even has a separate digital screen (touch-capability?) for all alarm zones!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9u-j_bisPE - These sound like 2901-9818 horns in continuous–an older-style detector can be seen later in the video (model?).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2_956TNdDY&t=3m48s GE Smoke Alarm commercial. I believe this was one of the US versions.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrKQX_XAJs8 - Integrity and Genesis signals doing Morse-U.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I’m going to merge Kevtistic’s and Fire Alarm Fan’s topics into a big one that anyone can post in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzA8QUk4PW0 - 4030/4040 horns along w/ TrueAlert horn/strobes in continuous. I find it interesting that the system has this coding considering that the school has a more modern interior setting, which someone like me would usually interpret as having a more modern system coding like code-3.

Probably set on continuous for consistency reasons–it would be cheaper to set the new system on continuous than to slap a coding module in the old panel to maintain consistency.

Also, the ceiling in those new sections must have taken a very long time to do with all those recessed circles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqgW1Z91R7E - (Explicit Language) Another uncommon example of separate bells and strobes–what look like Simplex/System Sensor 6" bells & RSS strobes; signal coding is continuous. There are also 4904-9138 strobes in the stairwell and lobby area.

I love the signals, but the vid looks like the person who took it is disoriented a bit! Now I’M a bit disoriented! :?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EWY5jIOJQY - (1:48) This is something very uncommonly heard when it comes to alarms; a Detex door alarm is set off, the first time I have ever heard a sound like this in my life. The sound coming from the alarm sounds very sick–is it supposed to sound like that?
