Yeah: even after all this time Ebay still remains the arguably best place to find devices for (hopefully at least) affordable prices (though there are other sources such as Facebook Marketplace like Caleb mentioned or places like thrift stores, consignment shops, flea markets, etc., along with of course attempting to salvage devices from an upgrade or demolition).

Ah yes, that’s right: talking with technicians & fire alarm service companies may also net you devices (possibly for free no less!).
OfferUp has fire alarms. Its like ebay but different.
I’d say Loganetics, they aren’t one of the big brands that you would think of like Honeywell or Simplex, but you can get the CE-2224 (2-zone panel) for about $50. and the Micro Warn MMC series mini horns sound great.

More or less exactly how you’d expect: find service companies in your area & ask them if they have any devices on hand that they don’t need to keep & that they might be willing to give you.
