so at my work there is a system sensor 6 inch Fire bell above the grocery pickup doors that is red. My supervisor said it was for the night stockers when the doors are locked. Is this aginst code since it could be mistaken for a fire alarm when it sounds?
Probably not especially since bells aren’t really used anymore in the US as fire alarm signals (with a few exceptions such as New York), though why whoever installed it chose a red one I would have no idea: there are plenty of gray-colored bells meant for such general signaling applications available.
I’m pretty sure the red ones are cheaper.
Yeah, in the back there are 3 adaptabells, 2 of those bells are for a delivery signal and one is the refridgeration alarm. all of those are grey and they are in the back where only the staff see them.
So in total there are 4 bells at your workplace, with only one of them being red. Are any of them labeled so that employees know which is which?
No, the only one that they told me what it was is the refridgeration alarm. The others I found out myself when they actually went off.
It might be a good idea if signs were put in place to indicate what each bell is for.
That would be a good idea, or they could atleast tell us what they mean when in training.
I think it would just be better to have signs so that anyone who sees them, whether they learned via training or not, knows exactly what they’re for.
