Kidde DETECT vs Kidde TRUSENSE

I recently bought a Kidde DETECT unit and saw this on the packaging.

As you can see the DETECT alarms have AMBER=FAULT just like the recalled Kidde TRUSENSE.

Kidde claimed that TRUSNSE technology was able to determine if the particles were from cooking smoke or real smoke from a fire.
I also found a promotional video for the Kidde DETECT with the SAME EXACT CLAIMS.

There may be nothing to worry about, but I just thought it was a little sus.
What do you think? Did Kidde fix the issues that led to TRUSENSE being recalled, or did they just modify the circuit a little bit ( the DETECT is either sealed lithium or 2AA battery powered) slap another cover on it and call it a day?

Yes, I believe I’ve been told that the “DETECT” line is Kidde’s attempt at still getting the TruSense technology out there while getting away from the failure that was the TruSense-series (of course maybe if they did enough R&D as well as testing they would have found the problem & corrected it thus not costing them an expensive recall in the first place). I’m surprised it took this long for anybody to consider making smoke detectors able to accurately distinguish between fire smoke & non-fire smoke though, especially given the likely high amount of deaths over the past few decades from detectors being disabled due to nuisance alarms (which I’m sure this kind of technology is designed to avoid).

Marketing schemes, that is all.
