Late-production Wheelock ET-1070 speaker

I came across an eBay listing for an interesting device: a Wheelock ET-1070 speaker with a 2010 date code. I’m surprised that this series was still in production at that point—I thought that it had been phased out long before.

The main part of the terminal at my local airport opened in 2003 and has ET-1070 speaker/strobes (pictured below) in certain areas. I had assumed that these were NOS devices, but I now wonder if they were still in production at that time.

I think many of the older devices from Wheelock remained in production in Canada years after they were discontinued in the U.S. For example, the WS series was apparently produced until 2001 for ULC applications, and searching elsewhere suggests that the E-7025 and E-7070 were also still produced for ULC applications in 2005.

Interesting—I wasn’t aware of this. It’s surprising that these speakers were still in production in 2010, as this seems particularly late. It would be interesting to see if there are any other Wheelock models that remained in production for the Canadian market for such an extended period.
