I am an electrician trying to pipe in alarm system. The diagram i have shows using a light engineered display panel a pull station, and two notifier fcm1 modules right next to the display, at all exits of the building. My question is one of locating the notifier modules. If i were to enterpret the drawings it looks like i mount these modules right next to the display above the door. I can find no where that gives me guidance on the placement of the boxes these will mount to. So i came here.
Local laws may vary a bit, but modules are generally less of an issue in terms of placement. They need to be in a serviceable location ideally near the thing it’s controlling or the FACP depending on the application. Do you have access to NFPA-72? That should provide most guidelines.
Unfortunately i do not. Im guessing the modules control something in the immediate vicinity. It just seems dumb to put ugly boxes above door just because it shows them grouped together on a diagram. Seems like a lot of bs that electricians always have run pipe for fire alarm guys, and we are just expected to understand how it should be run.
