Low Frequency (520Hz) Sounders

Curious if anyone is using these new sounders. Are the codes in your area requiring the use of them?
We know they are most effective waking up people in sleeping areas for children, older adults, and (drunk) college students

Here’s a piece I wrote about the need for 520Hz Low Frequency Sounders: Gamewell-FCI | Honeywell Building Technologies

We have not adjusted locally however I have replaced the unit in my bedroom at our house here. I can be a very sound sleeper at times and know that I have slept through alarms at both university and a hotel. However I know I have woken up to them as well. I think it all depends on how deep into sleep I am. It might be neat to see one that goes low freq at first and then times out to “normal.”

I would be interested in setting up two scinarios where I set up a time clock controling a monitor module to set it off early in the morning and see if I wake up, for either one.

I don’t know of anyone in our area that has adopted the code yet. It would be interesting to see how this works, I’m a fairly light sleep though so pretty much anything will jar me awake.

According to the system designers who have worked for the company longer, it usually takes about 2 to 3 years before the state adopts the next version of NFPA 72. Currently they’re on the 2009 edition.
