Which do you prefer?

I prefer Windows. I grew up on it, plus you’re limited to what you can do on a Mac.

Yep agreed

My elementary school tried Macs, but hated them, and then went back to Windows powered Lenovo computers.

People just like Macs because of their appearance, and for the ease of use. Windows is for more advanced users.

MS-DOS

I am a die-hard fan of anything Apple, so I am prepared to fervently defend my opinions.

I grew up on Windows too, and I found that the more that I used it, the more that I hated it, because of it’s difficulty to use, constant and unexpected issues, and other major problems that Windows still faces today. Also, would you mind explaining what you mean by being limited for what you can do on a Mac. I literally can’t think of a single major thing that a Mac can’t do as well, or probably better, than any Windows machine. If anything, Macs can probably do more.

Appearance and ease of use are very big contributors to the overall strength and quality of an operating system. Many would argue that ease of use and appearance are even more important than a computer’s set of features. And Windows is hardly for advanced users. As previously mentioned, Macs can do anything that Windows machines can better, and more.

Here are some other reasons why Macs are superior (in no particular order):
*Excellent Customer Service - Microsoft or any of the big PC maker’s don’t even compare
*Integrated hardware and software
*iLife
*Built in sharing features like AirDrop, Screensharing, etc.
*iCloud - Seamless syncing between all of my devices
*App Store
*Price ($100 for Windows 8 vs $20 for OSX 10.8)
*Security - It’s really nice not having to ever worry about malicious software

I could keep going, but I’m getting tired of typing.

I just don’t care for macs

Why not?

I guess it’s because I am used to windows 7 I don’t like windows 8 and a Mac is just weird to me that’s why I don’t like it

Although all of those apps and programs are nice, Windows has so many more programs that are compatible, including ones similar to the ones listed in your post.
Yes, I agree, Windows is complicated, but now that I know how to use it, I enjoy it.
Is integrated hardware even a good thing? Doesn’t that mean that it is hard to switch out hardware?
I have never had a virus on my computer, because I use anti-virus software. Although Macs are naturally resistant to viruses, they can still get them.
There are plenty of Windows computers that are cheaper than Macs. Although the Mac operating system is more affordable, the hardware can be expensive.

Overall, it seem like Windows is best for advanced users who like upgrading their system a lot, and Apple is best for users who want a simple operating system and do not want to upgrade the hardware a lot.

Also, it seems like Apple is the Simplex of the computer industry. Like how when you buy songs on iTunes, the songs can only be used legally on iTunes.

I think Lenovo is the best PC brand. Most other brands have either terrible computers, terrible customer service, or both.

Like how you compared it to simplex because its true

Something that you’re forgetting is that you can run Windows on a Mac (either through Apple’s BootCamp or a program like Parallels Desktop or vmWare Fusion), so Macs can run any piece of Windows or Mac software.

Windows has a learning curb that is too steep (especially Windows 8). A lot of functions can be performed on a Mac easier than they can on a Windows Machine.

And yes, ther are a lot of cheaper Windows computers, but that is not necessarily a good thing. Generally, the cheapness of a computer and the quality of it go hand in hand. I would rather spy a couple of hundred dollars more and get a quality product than be cheap and get something that is sub par.

What you said about Macs being for people who don’t like to update their systems a lot is not necessarily true. On the Mac Pro and Mac Mini, for example, it is very easy to customize and update the computer’s hardware.

I consider myself to be an advanced computer user, and consider Macs to be the more advanced option. The simple, yet powerful OSX, is by far more advanced than clutterd and clunky Windows.

U8ol0 is right here is an artical explaining it I switched from a MacBook to a PC laptop: 5 upsides, 1 downside | PCWorld

PC’s can also run Mac operating systems and software.

I agree that Apple is easier to use, no doubt. For example: there aren’t all of those task bar icons on Macs that can clutter things up.

I also agree that Macs are better value, but the more expensive Windows computers usually have extra things (like mine). For example: mine is a professional quality laptop that is very durable (it is the same kind used on the International Space Station, the only laptop certified for this).

You said that Macs have “integrated” hardware, what exactly do you mean by this?

I agree that they are not as cluttered (because they are simpler), but they just still don’t seem as advanced. Anyway, you can’t have both simple and advanced. For example: Simplex panels tend to be more advanced, but not as simple, as the Fire-Lite equivalent is less advanced, but simple.

Although Apple may have the best customer service, Lenovo is right behind Apple.

Honestly, if there were more programs and games compatible with Macs, if Apple had a better selection in computers, I would try a Mac. It’s mostly the hardware I don’t like. Otherwise, if I were just going to have Windows installed on a Mac, I would just stick with PC’s.

Still sticking with windows on this one

U8oL0 has got me thinking, Apple isn’t as bad as I thought they were, but I will still stick with Windows.

Apple isn’t bad it’s just I like windows better

I find it easier to write programs on Windows than Mac; for free, too!

Just go into Notepad and type this…
@ECHO OFF
ECHO Hello World!
ECHO.
PAUSE
…and you have a program! Yes, I know you can write simple applications on Mac, but it’s SIMPLE on Windows, since you only need to know a few commands, i.e. “ECHO”, “PAUSE”, “GOTO”, etc. etc.

ALSO: Please explain how Windows is cluttered.

I use both and have a Mac and a Windows computer. But I use the Mac as my main computer. The Windows I use to download and play games.

I started out as a Mac hater, then used Linux for a while and hated both, then turned into an Apple fanboy. Now I just use all three OS’s when I need them and have learned to appreciate their differences. Macs are still my favorite and get the job done 95% of the time, but I have VMWare loaded with several versions of Windows and Linux in case I need them.

I’m a bit out of the loop on the PC side of things since I haven’t used Windows extensively since XP. No Windows 8 for me - I’m sure it’s nice for tablet users, but I only use Windows for the occasional utilitarian task, so 7 remains my go-to version. I still think Windows 2000 was the best.

I’ve had good and bad experiences with all hardware makers. Though I’ve had a few pieces of Apple hardware fail, their support was quite good. I’ve played dumb at the Genius bar and gotten immediate free replacements a couple times. Though I’ve found higher-end PC hardware to be more reliable and user-repairable, getting any PC repaired or replaced by its respective manufacturer is a lost cause. They might as well make the things biodegradable nowadays since they’re tossed out more often than phone books.

lol, that happened with my mom and Apple when she was trying to get her iPhone fixed that she unfortunately paid insurance on.

I agree that if it is no Lenovo, that case will probably get lost. Lenovo has great customer service.
