David Kart’s Simplex Fire Alarm Collection (He loves Simplex 4903s more than anyone else, in fact he does many projects with them) He has collected Fire Alarms ever since 2010 and never abandoned anything:

David’s first device was a Simplex 4904-9137 15CD strobe removed from an old thrift store demolished in January 2011. He got this device in December 2010. This strobe is now dead as of April 2024. He has a bunch of 4904-9137s so he doesn’t need to worry too much.

So much Simplex! David grew up with Simplex ever since preschool! The preschool has Simplex QuickAlerts. The elementary, middle and high school had various Simplex 4903s. There were Simplex devices at his old college campus.

David also has 1 Custom Made Simplex 4903-9238R (R meaning the device has a red strobe). The difference is that the strobe is 110CD instead of 75. The strobe is actually less bright because of the red lens, but if it were 15CD, it’d be dim as fuck, which is why he did it with a 110CD 4903. He has also made metal cover plates and housings to go on top of certain alarms. He wanted to do this project to simulate a System Sensor P2475RLZ in a Simplex 4903 Form. David has also made some fully SmartSync 4903s and 4906s in 4903 Housings. He also has a Red Strobed TrueAlert ES Remote Strobe and a Black TrueAlert ES Cover Plate. David only did these colored lensed 4903/4904s and not the TrueAlerts/QuickAlerts because the 4903/4904 strobes flash in a 360° rotation, while the TrueAlert/QuickAlert strobes don’t. They’ll only flash downwards.

There was one time when David have a dream about a Simplex 4903 power saver, he had no words.

Edit: David just got a Couple Extra Rare Simplex 4903-9136 Speaker/Strobes, he’s been chasing them down like forever. David also got a Simplex 4906-9160 very rare!

This is something David is only doing with his 110CD Horn/Strobes and Remote Strobes since those strobes are very bright and those strobes would light up best during a candela degrade.

This topic is kind of different because it represents a made up fire alarm collection, so the alarms aren’t used in fictional buildings.

Most of my collection is vintage life safety equipment I salvaged from various buildings in NE Ohio that were slated for demolition or system upgrades:

three Simplex 4246-2s (one is a -1, which came from a small library built 60 years ago)

Gamewell’s version is the MS-7. The reason why there are so many brands of the BG-12 is because of Fire-Lite, Notifier, Gamewell-FCI, and Silent Knight (to name a few) were acquired by the infamous multi-billion dollar empire, :b_button_blood_type:oneywell.

I’m not really a fan of simplex anymore like I used to be. They were good until johnson controls with proprietary policies bought them and made them a subsidiary.

Touché, TSCSS. Simplex used to be way better till the mid 2000s, so they actually kinda went to shite before they were bought out. Thus, why I like older alarms, especially from Simplex, who was more reliable then, even in the 80s.
