Make Up a System (2.0)

House of Mouse, built in 1997, has a Simplex 4120 fire alarm system with evac. A Simplex annunciator is installed in the foyer, with a remote microphone next to the annunciator. Signals are Simplex 4903-9149 Speaker/Strobes, except in the kitchen and backstage where Simplex 4903-9150 Speaker/strobes are used. In the prop room, they used Wheelock STH speakers on 4903 strobe plates. To add additional alarm audibility, particularly in the foyer and restaurant/theater, ceiling mounted Simplex 4901 Speakers are used. 4904 strobes are installed in the restrooms, and Wheelock MT-WM horn/strobe (set to code-3 horn) is installed in the recieiving area. Pull stations are Simplex 4099s, with some behind STI Stopper II Covers. Smokes are for the most part older TrueAlarms, though the Restaurant/Theater has Simplex Beam Detectors. The prop room and kitchen have ESL Heat Detectors. The AHU has Simplex Duct Detectors. To comply with the AHJ’s wishes, relay modules are installed to shutdown the A/V equipment and bring house lighting to full during a fire alarm. The 4120 is programmed to play the following voice evacuation sequence:
Code-3 tone (3xs), Voice Message “May I Have Your Attention, May I Have Your Attention Please. An emergency has been discovered in the building, responsible personnel are responding. You are instructed to remain calm and orderly, and to leave the building by way of the nearest exit. Look for the nearest exit sign and proceed to leave the building.” (repeated 3x), Code-3 tone until alarm silenced.
Also unique to this system is that, Magic Brooms/Buckets are used in lieu of fire sprinklers. A Simplex ZAM monitor module monitors a relay from an actuation switch when activated. This in turns trips a Faraday 4 inch bell.
Also installed in the control room is a Kiddie Gemini II FM-200 fire suppression system. The signals used are a Faraday 6 inch bell and a System Sensor MASSADA Horn/Strobe (blank) in the control room, and a System Sensor SS241575ADA Strobe outside the control room. There is a FireLite BG-10 for manual release, a Chemitronics abort station, and 4 System Sensor 2400 Smoke Detectors.

In 1999, a fire broke out, causing the Magic Broom/Bucket system to be used. The AHJ determined the Magic Broom/Bucket system was not really suitable for fire protection purposes. So a water sprinkler system was installed, and a Wheelock MB-6 is installed outside. The Simplex 4120 monitors the sprinkler system using monitor modules.

In 2001, following an incident involving both Donald and Pumbaa stinking up a air duct, they repaired the AHU, and at the same time, new Simplex Duct Detectors were installed. It was also this time that the ducts were equipped with dampers to cut off the air supply in the event this were to happen again, as such they supplied STI Push Button stations for this purpose.

In 2003, a few 4901 speakers were replaced with Wheelock E90 speakers.

In 2005, a few 4903 speaker/strobes were replaced with Simplex TrueAlert Speaker/Strobes.

Between 2006 and 2009, as the STH speakers died, they were replaced with Wheelock E50 Speakers.
In 2010, the MT-WM died, and was replaced with an EST Integrity Horn/Strobe.

In 2011, a few ceiling mounted Simplex TrueAlert strobes were installed in the theater/restaurant to bring the facility up to code.

In 2014, a 4904 in the restroom was replaced with a Simplex TrueAlert Remote Speaker.

The system remains this way to this day, though a few smokes were replaced with newer TrueAlarms.
