In a store, there were Simplex 4903-9168 speaker/strobes along with 4099-9001 pulls on a 4100 system. They also have Simplex TrueAlert Remote Strobes in the Bathrooms. They do this message heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO9BvsJ48Wo. However, the strobes on the speakers started to malfunction (They were testing the alarm system, they do system tests yearly), and they replaced it with FCI Speaker/Strobes (the one that has a bubble on the strobe). The pulls, remote strobes, and panels were kept.
In another store, there were Simplex 4903-9168 speaker/strobes, along with 4099-9001 pulls on a 4100 system. They have TrueAlert strobes in the bathrooms. They do that same message from weatherdan’s college but without the chime in the beginning. However, a kid went crazy taking a hockey stick (yes, it’s a sports store) and smashed the glass from the strobe by accident, then deciding to smash the glass on the strobes from literally all the alarms in the buildings. Then one of the staff members called the Simplex Corporate office (yes, they know what all the alarm components are made by) telling one of them that a kid smashed the strobes of all the units, and gave them their address. Five days later, the SimplexGrinnell van arrived and a tech came in and inspected all the alarms. He decided to call FCI if they could come in and replace the alarms but they said no. So he decided to call Edwards if they could come in and replace the alarms and they said “yes”. A week later they replaced the speakers with Edwards Integrity speaker/strobes. The remote strobes, pulls and panels were kept.
