Yes, I’m sure China does make some good-quality things, but also no: Kidde is the one with a factory in China, whereas BRK/First Alert has a plant in Mexico instead (& if you ask me “Made in Mexico” (or “Hecho en Mexico” as they often say there) is a lot better (& has got to be better) than “Made in China”).
As I found out the other week Kidde does very much still use the FireX brand despite me thinking that they had long since gotten it out of the way in favor of their own name, so yours makes sense (didn’t think they still sold the i9050 either though).
