Most of them are Simplex Devices. The SPR I’ve always had I just slapped it on the 4903-9101 because I wanted it to be a Speaker Strobe.
2903 Works. It is a Light Plate with a 2901-9806 B2 behind it.

I think that spr looks cool on that plate. I could see it being a replacement for a failed speaker.
Merry Christmas! Nice acquisitions too! Interesting combo that 4903-9101 + SPR is, & yeah, like aerhardt says, I can see that being a replacement for the original speaker that would have been installed with the 9101 (not that I’ve seen such a combo): heck I might have seen such a thing once (not in person I don’t think though: in one of the topics on this forum I believe).
It’s an Interesting Combo indeed. I personally like it better than a 2902 on it.

A little late but the next day a late Present came and inside was a Wheelock RSS! A Multi Candela one! Now I have the Remote Strobe version of the MT-24MCW!
