MetroFur Transit

MetroFur Transit is my Fictional furry-owned and operated transit agency.
These are the buses MetroFur uses.
Bus Make and Model: New Flyer Xcelsior XN40

What do you guys think I should do for the Livery?
What city should MetroFur operate in?

I’m not sure, but I like your choice of bus make & model: just going by that “sketch” of one it’s excellent!

Maybe a fur pattern over the entire body to start?

Funnily enough some ways from where I used to live in Florida is a transit organization called “LYNX”, & their logo includes a paw print (also found out while looking up LYNX on Wikipedia (to make sure that I got the facts right) that there’s another transit organization, this time in Charlotte, NC (likewise some ways from where I live now), called “Charlotte Area Transit System”, or “CATS”).

I know about both LYNX and CATS. Im a transit enthusiast, so I guess its bound to happen. I was looking at the LYNX buses earlier for some sort of inspiration. Also, what colors do you think I should use?

Oh okay, had no idea.

Ah, neat: I like their color scheme of black & pink, two colors that always seem to go together nicely (though going by Google their color schemes seem to be all over the place/inconsistent for some reason).

No idea, you should have plenty of both colors & shades/hues of colors to use though. Maybe red & blue? (two colors that like black & pink always go well together & are very colorful too (& thus add both visibility & visual appeal (though only if the livery is designed well/right)

Yeah, I still need to post in the Introduce Yourself thread, I havn’t done it since I already did so on my old account (@Metrolink_YT , I lost access to the Google account tied to that account, so I made this one), but an updated post wouldn’t hurt.

I would assume it is to signify the different service types, but Ill do some research on it. I know L.A. Metro has Orange Buses for Local routes, Blue for express, Red for Rapid, and Grey for their 2 BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) services.

Alright, Thanks for the idea! I have it in my list of ideas to choose from!
One final question. What city should MetroFur Transit operate in?

Oh alright, good idea.

Could be, yeah.

Sure thing!

Funnily enough I may have an excellent suggestion courtesy of the “Team Neighborhood” web series: “Furtroit” (an obvious portmanteau of “fur/furry” & “Detroit”), to I guess take the furry theme even further.

What about having some Ford Freestars and some Ford E-450s?

Im focusing on the main fleet right now. Ill work on minibuses at a later time.

We have something similar in a local town to me! Kalkaska Area Transit or KAT

Interesting concept! I have my own made up transportation company as well. Raizr’s Atlas Transportation Services. However, I use more conventional bus designs over that style.

Well isn’t that neat…

Yeah!

You say “conventional” but you can’t get much more “conventional” than that: the New Flyer Xcelsior isn’t much different from most other city transit(-type) buses (unless you’re referring to shuttle buses specifically, which are quite different).

We use type C and D transit buses that resemble school type buses and buses very similar to shuttle buses in my area. However, the big cities like Grand Rapids have big transit style buses. So when I say “conventional” I mean the C and D type transit buses

Oh okay. Pretty sure that buses like the Xcelsior are the “conventional” ones though (mainly in that the majority of cities seem to use them: either that or each place has a different definition of what “conventional buses” are).

You do? Not sure I’ve ever seen those kinds of buses used for anything other than school, prisoner transport, or worker transport applications.

Yep! Here’s on of KAT’s

And here’s from Traverse City’s Bay Area Transit (BATA)

Wish I had better pictures but I don’t for the time being

Huh, well how about that. Neat.

Ah, a good old Thomas Transit-Liner EFX! I remember riding the Saf-T-liner school bus version.

Yeah, Thomas makes Charter and Commercial versions of their school buses, I believe IC did, but im not sure if they still do.

The Xcelsior does fit the criteria of a Type D bus.

The XN40 is 40 ft long (hence the 40 in the model), 11’ 1", and can carry 83 passengers (40 seated, 43 standing) Here is the brochure from New Flyer themselves.

The Xclesiors are the more common ones of the transit buses in North America, with runner ups being NovaBus and Gillig.

They do. Thomas, IC, and BlueBird all still make transit and general transportation versions of all their models

Interesting. I always thought transit buses like that had their own classification. Good to know.

I forgot to add, When you look in the brochure, the XN40 is the CNG powered Variant.

The only one I would think would have their own classification is the 60 ft articulated variants since Type Ds are usually 45ft max.

Anyways, if you wondered, this is one of my main buses used for my transportation; the Raizr Cascade. It’s actually 33.4 feet long so ignore the length.

Though, of course, it would be in a transit configuration, something I don’t have art of yet.

Is this the total length, or the length of occupancy (or whatever it is called)?

The nose reminds me of the 2006 Blue Bird Vision.

And how you have the door is similar to the Xcelsior’s front door.

Overall, It’s a great design. Keep in mind I’m not criticizing your design, I was just pointing out some similarities I noticed. Do you have an idea for the MetroFur paint scheme?
