MS-10 Ground Faults

Hey all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I have a Fire-Lite MS-10 I just from eBay that stated it was brand new. It certainly looks brand new, not a scratch on it, with all original packaging and accessories. For some reason it is giving me a Ground Fault trouble, even with no NACs or IDCs connected. I have tried it with all open NACs\IDCs, as well as with EOL resistors in all. I have confirmed that ground is present at the power supply connection and the cabinet itself, but from what I’ve been reading that error isn’t indicating a missing ground, but instead a short to ground somewhere inside the system.

I recently purchased another MS-10 for a friend's house which is now fully installed and I don't remember if we originally had this problem or not - there are no troubles on that panel now. I don't have batteries yet for this one, but not sure if that would contribute.

Does anyone have anything I can try before I complain to the eBay seller that there is a problem? Thanks in advance.

Brooks

If you’re getting a ground fault with absolutely nothing except for AC power connected… the panel’s screwed and you got scammed on eBay.

Maybe there’s a metal object (like a paper clip) between the can and the circuit board, causing the fault.

Highly doubt it, because the paperclip would have to be intentionally positioned just right to cause the fault. If a paperclip did get in there it is more likely to have fried something else on the PCB and caused a different problem.

Definitely didn’t get scammed, as I’ve already complained and gotten my money back. Looks like the panel was damaged somehow despite it’s new condition, and I’ll need to find another one. No big deal.
