Well the fire bell is just for show, might get a 240V ac to 24V dc adapter and power it up, the smoke alarm I got from a staff member at my school for my 14th birthday.
You might be able to power it with one or two 9-volt batteries. Usually 12v signals have a range of voltages they can operate in, and 9 may be just enough to get it to ring.
