My BIG Simplex 4002

Recently did a trade with another enthusiast and got my hands on another 4002. However this one is a bit different. If you couldn’t tell, it’s a 4 bay rather than a 2 bay like my other one. Has 20 zones and 4 nacs. Oddly enough it has a relay card that was labeled for strobes. It came out of a 4 story hotel. My guess each floor had a nac assigned to it for horns and a relay assigned for strobes. Pretty odd setup but I guess it not against code back then. Manufactured in 1988. Installed around 1991.

That is an awesome FACP

Nice. I bet those 4002s aren’t as common as the regular 4002. Now we should see if we find a red 4002 this size.

Awesome find, good thing I got a 4002 before the prices for them shot up. One of the elementary schools I went too might’ve had a relay wired for the lights only (Simplex 2903-9001’s), because the first time we did a fire drill, the horns were set to continuous, while the lights coded to slow march time. This was the only time it did this, probably because that was the last fire drill utilizing the 4002, as it was fried due to a power surge and replaced with a 4005 retrofit kit.

You should get modules to put in the top bay

They’re so expensive. 20 zones and 4 nacs is way more than I need. So I’ll probably keep it as is.
