My schools original fire alarm

So while helping out setting up a fundraiser at school, I walked into this simplex flush plate dangling by one singular screw. Pretty neat.

I also found the only remaining horn. A 4040 now used as a doorbell. Removed and installed 2 feet away from its original spot.

Cool find! You oughta try seeing if you can get both of those older devices if they’re ever replaced! (the Century too if it’s ever replaced as well! I can also see you putting the plate together with the 4040, since they go together perfectly)

I will see tomorrow, if I find a custodian. I doubt they will since it’s the only original horn left but who knows

If they already have a newer system in place & it’s fully adequate & operational I see no reason to leave the plate or the horn where they are (as for the 4040’s current role, any AC-powered electromechanical or even electronic horn should be able to do the job, like Federal Signal’s Vibratone 350).

Yeah, many locations have the flush plate with a junction box cover on top. A few locations have the newer horn (barely new lmao) on top of the flush plate. And some just in the original locations
