Apparently it’s the first-ever nationwide test in the EAS history. It’ll affect all television, cable, satellite, and radio stations at once. I’m not sure about weather radios; it won’t affect the Milwaukee area NWR, because it doesn’t have the equipment to transmit the live feed from an EAS alert, but the article on the Milwaukee NWS site didn’t mention if that’s the case at all weather service sites or just ours.
It will affect the weather radios for the test. I will record it if possible with my webcam since I’m an Emergency Alert System fan.
Well, in my area, the alert was seen on our local NBC station (probably more, but that’s what I had the channel on), but it was hard to hear the audio because it seemed as if it was being played twice, but a few-seconds out-of-synch, and the regular programming audio was still running as well.
Also, we have DirecTV, and when I changed to a satellite channel, I saw a graphic about the test, but heard Lady Gaga singing instead of the test message…
It was actually at 2PM EST (1PM CST). I didn’t see or hear it because I was at work, but from what I’ve heard, it wasn’t very successful…
