I recently got said bell from my Career & Tech Education school (from the old system) and need to remove the gong. From what I can see, there is a tamper-resistant feature, and I need to know how to get around it. Thanks in advance for your help!
Do you have photos? The gong may be retained by screws from the sides, instead of the normal bolt through the middle of the gong.
Just taking a guess here. I searched on line. The picture of a VB6 looks like the same vendor Simplex got mechanical bells from years ago. I found a picture of an old bell mechanism without the gong. The threaded stud in the center was used for very small bell gongs (4 inch) or for a chime assembly.
What exactly are we looking at in this image? I can’t find a frame of reference.
Looking at images of similar devices, there should be one large Allen bolt extending through the gong. Is this the case?
Yes, it is the center of the gong. I tried liquid wrench to loosen the bolt up. It didn’t work.
UPDATE: After using a lot of elbow grease, I was able to get the bolt out. Even though I don’t need it, I would still like to have the data sheet.
