Yeah, the First Alerts have a tone like the MT’s Code-3 Tone. The only alarm I know of that has the 520 Hz is The Loudenlow Model 520. I’m not sure if it’s officially listed or not.
It’s basically a Fire Sentry coupled with a 6" speaker. They also have the Loudenlow Original, that has a 240-260 Hz tone generator. (Middle C is 262 Hz)
I’ve seen the loudenlow but they’re ridiculously expensive. i’d rather use a low frequency sounder like wheelock or system sensor has out, much cheaper if you find a smoke with a relay output.
These detectors are notoriously buggy. Here’s a video I found online about a month ago of a Google employee’s experience with the Nest Protect. They seem completely awful to me.
I just imagined a screwed up situation. A hacker hacks into the detectors and corrupts them so they wont work. Then, there’s a fire in the house late at night and everyone dies.
