New Potter Voice Panels

Yeah, this is one area where I don’t really mind AI use. If it means that fire alarm systems can get exactly the right message out, that’s important. Take Simplex systems for example, where the customers used to have to pay for custom messages to be recorded by a voice actor, or for the messages to be changed. That resulted in the majority of their older voice systems being installed with the completely unsuitable default message. Technicians need to be able to easily change messages on site, and this is a good way to do it. As far as the sound goes, it can’t be any worse than the stitched-together messages from panels like the Siemens MXL and Simplex 4100, although it should certainly be evaluated to ensure that it sounds serious, and is intelligible.

Yeah, TTS capability long predates AI, and also is a very useful capability in a MNS for custom messages because it means you can present the same message both visually (on signage) and audibly (through the speakers). (Speech recognition at that level is the far harder path to tread.)

The Medium Whoop tone I don’t think anyone has heard.
