Time for my once-quarterly forum post about another wallet-breaking project…
I recently purchased a 3-bay enclosure for a Simplex 4100+. I plan to build the panel over the next couple months, starting with the master controller bay. I’m hoping to build the panel with MAPNET II, voice evacuation, zoned inputs, and as many LED switch cards will fit in the cabinet. The panel will also be on the latest firmware available (9.02.21) and be equipped with networking capabilities, just without the “4120” branding commonly seen on the dress panels of network-spec’d panels.
A quick fun fact about the enclosure: it was once owned by the infamous Railroad Rick before being auctioned off to an eBay seller (section8cubby) where I purchased it.
The future 4100+ will join the rest of the Simplex panels in my collection – the 4100ES, 4010ES, 4002 and 4020s. Eventually a network between all five will exist, when I find the space to set them all up.
