I recently got this seemingly rare, and unique, simplex alarm, purchased online. It’s a bit of an oddity but it’s pretty cool.
Specs: 5001-2 projector
4901-9822 horn
4905-9903 plate
4904-9182 strobe

That thing looks cool and I bet it sounds cool
Interesting…(especially the fact that the projector is diagonal instead of straight)
That’s just how simplex made their single projectors. They are pretty uncommon, which the main reason on bought this horn was for the projector to put on my 4050
Well I’ve seen straight Simplex projectors just the same, & most projectors in general are usually straight as well.
Really? I thought that simplex only made the diagonal ones, if you have a picture I would love to see.
Here’s one example:
Simplex 4040 w/Single Projector
Oh, that is a federal signal projector, not a simplex. I think they transitioned to making their own projectors once they started making the 4050s. Since the 4040s where just federals design, and so that probably made them use their horns too
Oh, really? Alright, not sure I knew that.
I bet this is probably a mishmash of parts combined together. The projector is a Faraday design.
100 percent, I’m not even sure how this thing came to be
Certainly a device of all time
Faraday actually used to make some of Simplex’s notification appliances for them back in the day, so that would explain that (& might also mean that that’s a Simplex projector despite being Faraday designed-&-made).
Diamond? Did I find you? That is a Sick horn.
