No voltage on common alarm relay on Firequest 200 control panel

I own a small apartment building that has a Firequest 200 control panel. I would like to install magnetic door holders on all of my fire doors. I recently did my annual fire inspection and the technician told me he is 99% sure that contacts 3-5 on my controller board are the common alarm relay (24v) that I could connect the magnet door holders too, but unfortunately we have no schematics. I found a schematic of a similar board which did label contacts 3-5 as the common alarm relay. When I checked the voltage of contacts 3-5 as well as 6-8 (common trouble relay) in normal and warning modes, I am getting 0 volts on all of these contacts. There are 2 relays below these 6 contacts so I’m pretty sure they are indeed relays but I can’t figure out why i’m not getting any voltage on these contacts. The part number for the controller board is 900678 but since it is so old I can’t find much documentation.

If it’s a relay hookup, it’s probably just a switch that can open or close the circuit. It probably doesn’t give out any power itself. You need to get power from another source and use the relay as a switch in the circuit.

Thanks for the feedback! What you are saying makes sense. I verified that there is continuity between NC and COM when there is no alarm. It appears that I can jumper COM with a 24vdc power supply.

The only mystery I have is as follows: I have a schematic which I believe is my board. Contact #9 is labled 24VDC NON-SWITCHED and #10 is labled 24VDC SWITCHED. I would think I could jumper the #9 contact to #5 (COM) to power my circuit. Where I’m confused is I’m only reading 14V on both the #9 and #10 contacts compared to ground. As an alternative, I suppose I could add an external 24vdc power supply but am curious why I am only getting 14vdc. Here is an image of the similar schematic:

Are you reading 14 volts between 9/10 and earth ground ? Try terminal #5 at the bottom as your negative.

I was reading 14 volts between 9/10 and earth ground. I misunderstood what you were saying and compared the voltage between #9 on the control board with #6 of the power supply board and read 28v. So assuming I get ~24V between #9 (top of control board) and #5 (right side of control board), I can jump #9 to #3 (top) and #5(top) with #5(side)?

No, don’t wire it that way! I’m not sure what the - pull down is but it may cause a direct short.
I would wire 9 on top to 5 on top. 3 on top to the positive of your door holder and 6 on the power supply to negative on your door holder. You should check the current draw on the door holder to make sure that the panel has enough amps to power it.

Following your advice, on the control board I wired the #9 contact to #5. I then wired #3 on the control board to the +24vdc contact on the magnetic door holder. I also wired the #6 COM contact on the power supply board to the COM contact on the door holder and it worked like a charm. I also tested that during an alarm the door holder released. Thanks everyone for all the help.
