Nothing Plugged in

I began hearing the traditional low battery chirp. In trying to isolate the sound, it seemed to be coming from 2 areas. One area has no SM in it. It does have a weather station with outside monitor. I unplugged the monitor, took the batteries out of the outdoor monitor, and placed those items in the garage. The SM in the hallway seemed to be chirping at times, so I unplugged the electrical, removed and then removed the battery, and placed that in the garage. Still heard chirping, so I did the same to the other SM in another bedroom. Now everything in unplugged, batteries removed, and items placed in the garage. I noticed the microwave had a message to turn it off, did that. Then I turned all of the breakers off, and back on. Now, I am still getting these stupid chirps. There is nothing left in the house to chirp. Any ideas?

As someone said in another topic (& indeed as people have said on pages concerning cases like this) have you tried looking for a detector above the ceiling or that’s otherwise in a hidden area? (if by “SM” you mean something like “smoke monitor”)

Yes, smoke monitor. This is an apartment and I cannot get past the ceiling. All maint. people are gone until Tuesday, so I am trying to get rid of the noise myself.

Ahhhh haaaa!!! I have solved the problem. There is a smoke monitor in another room, I did not know it was there. That is where the chirp is coming from.

Ah, there you go! Glad you figured it out! If it keeps chirping even after putting fresh batteries in it (provided it’s that kind of detector) I’d recommend replacing it.
