Notification Appliance Colors

As most enthusiasts know, modern fire alarm notification devices mostly only come in red or white. I am making this topic to both collect information on why it is these two colors specifically and also to hear about rare device colors. If anyone has anything to share on this like rare colors you have seen, or if you know why red and white are the most common please post it here.

Here’s a Simplex one:

Alarms are generally red because red= fire, warning, and they stand out.
White exists because of aesthetics reasons, or if you have a red wall (You cannot have red devices on a red wall)
The other colors, like blue, or black exist because:
Blue is usually used for general signaling, like police, theft alarm, etc
Black, exists because if you have a black wall, you want your alarm to blend in.

I actually have one of those in my collection

Nice, Which one is it?

And for Disney World to blend in with their blue walls, if they don’t paint the device.

I’ve seen pictures of e70s with a stainless steel front plate with red markings instead of the usual red or white

The blue commander 3 (model number GECB24-PWB)

Nice alarm you Own! Take good care of it

Will do of course, got in new in box back in august. New Device

I came across brown EST Genesis speakers and strobes at a hotel complex in Las Vegas. That city seems to have no shortage of painted devices, but I think that these ones left the factory wearing that colour as the texture and coverage look perfect:

From what I’ve seen online, the current line of Genesis devices (at least certain models—not sure if it’s the entire lineup) is available in a variety of custom colours.

Similarly, Pyrotector offered its Phoenix smoke detectors in an assortment of rather wild colours:
