Hi,
Sorry if this is off topic but this is the closest group I’ve been able to find related to an item I just acquired. I’m hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. It’s a 10 Brass (Bronze?) electric alarm bell. It has a shield on the cover and the parts are labeled S.E.T. I’ve found nothing with a shield but I was wondering if early Federal alarms might have used this. And I’ve found nothing that S.E.T. might match. Any information would really be appreciated.
S.E.T most likely refers to “Standard Electric Time Company,” which was maker of time clocks and fire alarms. This bell was probably used for either time signalling (shift rotations, class changes, etc.) or fire alarm service.
I don’t think Standard has ever had any relation to Federal Signal, however they were acquired by Faraday in the late 70’s. They are now owned by Siemens as a division of Faraday.
