Old bell system at my old Elementary School. Should I try to get it?

The Elementary School I went to for fifth grade was built in 1951 and still has its old system consisting of an unused bell system. I believe it was pull rod activated as well, but no pull rods remain today from what I can remember. There are also flush mount horns that look like Simplex 4050s behind plates that were likely added on later since they were too lazy to remove them.

The current fire alarm system consists of FCI rebranded BG12’s and spectralert classics that from what I remember played some kind of chime when I heard them.

So what are your thoughts on this?

You should ABSOLUTELY try to get this system!!!

Yeah, I’m certainly for you getting the system: heck doing so would probably be a lot like what Old School Fire Alarms would do given all the pull rod systems he’s showcased & (hopefully) saved.

The original SpectrAlert line is incapable of producing a chime tone, at least if you’re talking about the standard horns & horn/strobes: there are original SpectrAlert chimes & chime/strobes, but they’re very rare to find in actual service. Do you think it was one of their
3000Hz tones instead?

It may have been, but I remember it wasn’t loud at all.

I have them too! Are they not in use? Ours are still in use. I believe there are 8, but the ones in our school gym are broken. We didn’t have any newer alarms till this year!
Btw, the new ones are Simens.

They’re inactive. I’ll post pictures when I get the chance to.

Also, cool that your school has them. are they older bells like Autocall ones?

No. I think you have to pull the rod down and break glass. I also just was at the place last night! I talked to the janitor and he said that some were inactive. He also knew they were a collectors item, so he will try to give the inactive ones if he can. I will try to get a picture to send. I’m not big on fire alarms, but I want to start a collection!

Nice! Hope you’re able to get them!
