Older siemens MLX system with 79 faults that appeared from no where

I have an older seimens MLX fire alarm panel that has 79 troubles. Everything was working a couple of weeks ago and the troubles dont make any sense. Could there be an electronic component that went bad?

Hard to say for sure without seeing the system or troubles, but in general yes. It is possible for a card or component of the system to fail, resulting in a large portion of the system to go into trouble.

If a wire is cut somewhere, it could result in odd behavior with a portion of the system too, but if it’s kind of all over the place that may be less likely.

Are you a technician trying to troubleshoot, or a property owner/manager? If the latter, you’ll want to reach out to a service company who can diagnose and resolve that. Unfortunately the panel is considered legacy now. Parts for it are likely to be second hand, and so if the repair is larger than a loose or broken wire, they may have to quote a panel or system replacement.

I am an electrician working on the system. Another electrician had done some work before me, where he extended some strobes/Speakers. This created 81 troubles.

I went through his work and corrected everything he had worked on, which removed two troubles.

The remaining 79 troubles are in a completely different area of the building.

Got it. What are the kinds of troubles?

Without knowing the trouble type or description of troubles can’t help too much.
