You know, I believe I’ve seen this detector somewhere, but I can’t place where & what make & model it was there at the moment (I don’t think it was “Wellen Industries” though). In any case, it’s a very old & very rare detector & thus should be preserved: thought about offering it for sale to one of the collectors here? (who I’m sure would be more than happy to take it off your hands for you)

Wow thats a rare model. I’d love to have one someday. Also dont throw it out, sell it as that thing is definitely a colletors item.

I didn’t realize it until now but that’s an early photoelectric smoke alarm, most of the alarms from the time are ionization. Vintage alarms like this are very often collected and some are seen as pretty valuable.

Would definately consider selling to someone who could care for it. Just really would like to be able to price it with a little i formation about it, but i cant find anything on wellen induatries or the logo. Any help would be appreciated

Ah okay, thanks: this community will thank you greatly for doing so I’m sure (especially with how rare detectors like this one are & thus how important they are to preserve).

Just now I noticed that Wellen Industries was based in the same place, Costa Mesa, California, as two other somewhat-obscure manufacturers, Southwest Laboratories, Inc. & Gateway Scientific, Inc., both of which made equally-rare smoke detectors (& while Wellen & Southwest’s addresses are not identical, Wellen & Gateway’s are (possibly implying some kind of connection), & the former two are also only a 14-minute drive from each other according to Google Maps).

These are all the pages I could find that mention Wellen Industries:
Patents Assigned to Wellen Industries - Justia Patents Search
US4021792A - Smoke alarm - Google Patents
SECY-78-492: Ionization Type Smoke Detectors
Roy R. Ludt Inventions, Patents and Patent Applications - Justia Patents Search
John Skarman - Inventor: Phone Number, Contact Info, Public Records | Radaris
None of these may help you pricing-wise, but please try to be reasonable with said price whatever it is: all the time sellers way overprice life safety devices even though the average collector isn’t made of money.

@PhotoElev would you want this?
You know more about these than I do.

I would like to have one if at all possible.

These are decently rare to come across in homes nowadays, infact I think I’ve only seen about 3 in collectors hands. This would definitely be something I would be interested in if it’s available to purchase.

Proof of me having experience lol

Oh definitely: that’s a good “resume” if I’ve ever seen one, heh.
