Hello I am liking for help on a simplex 2001. It is a kid I know panel, he is autistic and fire alarm panels are his special interest! He recently bought a simplex 2001. When turned on the panel goes into trouble. Everything flashes or is just on when we push ACK. I have pictures of the panel which I will share, I am unsure of how it was set up before, the person who sold it to them didn’t give them much information and had everything already disconnected. Any help would be appreciated. I have pictures of each card also.
Veteran enthusiast NewAgeServerAlarm actually once did a video on this exact FACP, & he gave it a 5 (out of 5) in terms of difficulty in using, as it may look simple at first, but it’s actually really complex to use, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. It looks like that particular one is missing most of the jumper wires it needs to operate as well.
No wonder they’re called “Simplex…”
You know, I never actually realized Simplex’s name could be an oxymoron from being a combination of the words “simple” & “complex” (even though that’s likely not what the coiner of it intended).
I would recommend watching videos on YouTube. eg. Newageserveralarm
Nice find for your child! It isn’t a common thing to find a 2001. Especially a 2001-8001.
@Randomnicious
They’re not on it yet, they’re doing all the other systems first. It’ll probably be a hot minute till I get that 2001-8001
I would love anyone’s help!! I’ve tried watching YouTube videos and no one has the same cards as us.
Would you be willing to help us out if you know more than we do? He would just love to have it running with no troubles and would love to have only a pull hooked up to it.
I guess so, but I know next to nothing about 2001s myself: the only thing I can suggest you do is watch the video that NewAgeServerAlarm made on it that I mentioned: might give you some clue on how to use it: Panels: In & Out: Simplex 2001 “Repack” FACP
What kind of cards? Please, describe!
We have dual zone cards, No meter module, relay card and a dual signal circuit card
So no coding card, I’m assuming. These cards are very very common with a 2001.
No march time card either from the looks of it: unless it has a march time card or a coder card the panel will do continuous (as evidenced by an actual former 2001 panel without either card doing such).
Correct! No March time card and no coder card are you saying we need one??
Not unless you want the NAC output to be coded, since like I said it’ll otherwise do continuous.
It depends, if your son has some rare horns, (if he puts them on the system), it might be best for you to use a coder.
He only wants to put a pull station on the panel because he takes it to and from school, he wants it to go off when he pulls the pull but no horn. He has a EST siga 278.
He needs to convert the pull station to conventional by removing the addressable module off the back of it if it is indeed a SIGA-278. Unless it’s a 278B-1120.
I’d say the process of conversion is similar to this
