As the title suggests, predict rare, unseen variants of fire alarms that you think could exist.
Rules:
Your alarm variant(s) must be based on already found variants of a “counterpart” of that alarm (e.g. the WS Strobe on a 7002T) and/or existing variants of the alarm itself.
The reason why that variant possibly exists must be cited based on your knowledge of information on it’s counterparts and/or other existing variants of that alarm.
No made-up devices or brands! (e.g. Relcot Notify Series) This thread is strictly for predicting rare and unseen devices.
Your device can be based off the region that it (or devices of the same brand name) has been seen in.
Photos are allowed.
Here are my examples:
Any Simplex 2902 Speaker/Light/Strobe or 2903 Light/Strobe Plate with RED Lens and WHITE Lettering
The 2904 series of remote light/strobe, released around the same time as the 2903s, which featured a very resembling design to the lens on a 2902/2903, had two well-known options for the colour of lens: RED or WHITE. (Other colours were also offered)
Any Simplex 2902 Speaker/Light/Strobe or 2903 Light/Strobe Plate with Foreign/Bilingual Lettering
Simplex products were offered in Germany and are still offered in Canada (some of which speaks French).
Simplex’s famous T-Bars were and still are offered in different languages (e.g. Bilingual English and French, French-only Variants) A German T-Bar has been discovered by @Edwards1250, and a possible photo of a 2903 with German letting has also surfaced thanks to this user.
Possible lettering variants include: “FIRE/FEU,” “FEU/FEU,” “FEUER/FEUER.”
This also includes ceiling variant lettering and different coloured lenses as well.
EDIT: it is confirmed that some foreign lettering 2903s do exist with “FEU” and “INCENDIO” lettering. I would also like to add another possible undocumented variant with Spanish lettering due to Simplex selling some of their products in the Spanish language.
Here’s an example photo:
Any Wheelock (V)700X(T)/(V(F))3X(T)-VVV*-WS-VVV with RED lens and WHITE lettering
The WS-series of Wheelock remote strobes are the same ones used on both 2- and 4-wire variants of the Wheelock (V)700X(T). They were offered with either RED or WHITE coloured lenses.
There is proof that these devices were offered from-factory with WHITE body colour, increasing the rarity factors.
What if a Beige System Sensor MAEH ADA exited? A Beige MASS ADA Existed (Granted, non likely exist anymore. Unless some haven’t been found yet.) So why wouldn’t a Beige MAEH ADA Exist? Maybe a Beige MAEH Non ADA Existed as well?
Also what if a Ceiling Mounted System Sensor MASS ADA Existed? A Ceiling Mounted MASS Non ADA Existed, so why wouldn’t a Ceiling Mounted MASS ADA Exist?
Because in the mid 1990s, ADA prohibited ceiling-mounted strobes in most cases due to the possibility of smoke rising to the ceiling and obstructing the strobe. I don’t remember the details, but many datasheets in the 1990s included this disclaimer.
These horns, like any other Wheelock product, can come in red and white.
Seeing how the discovery of the 712(P(T))-WS-24 chime/strobe happened unexpectedly, it can be assumed that a horn/strobe variant of this exists as well.
Predicted Models: MIN-WS-12 and the MIN-WS-24 (other voltages are included as well). As the predicted models suggest, they have a WS Strobe for visual alert on them.
Not sure if this counts, but the Wheelock AMT4 (i.e. an AMT the size of the MT4). It’s listed on UL’s website (both here and here), as well as several panel compatibility lists (including Wheelock’s own PS-8-LP), yet it has never actually been listed on a datasheet for the AMT series.
I’d say it’s undocumented. My definition of undocumented can also be devices that have never been before seen by us collectors.
The AMT4’s discovery wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for you. Thanks to your discovery, I will now catagorise this alarm as a Nearly Extinct (NE) alarm because no images of one have surfaces as of yet.
This might not be as exciting as some of the other devices, but the Notifier FSM-101 is a “pull station monitor module” listed in this datasheet (but almost nowhere else, including newer versions of the datasheet). I’m guessing it’s a standalone version of the module found in pull stations like the NBG-12LX, and unlike the FMM-101, it probably has an LED on it.
Alex from @Steel_City_Alarms states that this alarm variant may not be real and that the oldest was manufactured in 1999. However, surprises can happen and that can change.
Kidde/Fyrnetics/Nighthawk KN-COSM-I (hardwired no battery backup) [EXISTENCE CONFIRMED]*
The KN-COSM-ICA was sold in Canada, a hardwired version with no battery backup.
This prediction is also based off @Steel_City_Alarms early variant Dash IB, where it tests similar to the early Canadian variants, the two difference being it doing temporal 3 and having the regular Kidde/Nighthawk voice with no French. The button is also designed similarly to the Canadian version as well, minus the French text. The test sequence can be described as having no chirp when the test button is pressed; it does code 3 rounds with voice like normal, however after the second round a partial round is done (possibly due to it being interconnected); on the first round of temporal 4, the first beep is partially cut off, making the first beep shorter, then continues normally. Also, the green “Operate” light flashes in the same manner as the Canadian version during the test. Compare sequences below.
5:27
Earlier variants (pre-1998) do 4/6 much like the earlier Canadian versions.
Ceiling mount Wheelock AS; not any Ceiling Mount; but it’s a 1st Generation Ceiling Mount that looks like a 2nd Generation! It only does continuous. It’s called an AS-2430-CFR, which got replaced by the AS-2430C-FR
Hey Edwards; can you make an Integrity with a Horizontal Strobe?
Another predicted undocumented could be the ceiling mounted variants to the 4903 series where Fire lettering is only on the sides. Also 24 Flash Per Minute Speaker/Strobes in a Red Horizontal Mounting style, but with 15 & 30CD strobe ratings or other Red Vertical 4903 24FPM Speaker/Strobes
Multi-Tone Simplex 4901/4903 Series (Faraday Horn Assembly)
This prediction is made based on the fact that Simplex is a known rebrander of Faraday devices, including even their multi tone horns.
These may look like regular rectangular 4901/4903s from the front side, but when looking at the model, you will see that the tones on these devices can be changed.
These can come in Red or White, Horizontal or Vertical.
Special thanks to @simplex_4903-9238 for inspiring me to make this prediction. I know how much you like your 4903s.
EDIT: 4901 VERSIONS CONFIRMED TO EXIST ACCORDING TO A POST BELOW
According to this manual, the 4901-9809 and 4901-9810 are real 3-tone horns with the 4901 housing. The manual makes no mention of a 4903 version, despite describing the 4903 mechanical horns.
