Pyrgard

A while back I came across this Philippines-based life safety manufacturer named “Pyrgard Corp.”, who make various kinds of devices: what mainly caught my eye however were their panels, which are very similar in design to the Simplex 2001, take a look:
PYRGARD
Their 8 & 12-zone FACPs & 8 & 36-zone sprinkler monitoring panels in particular have their cards designed almost exactly like the 2001’s.

As I happened to find just now via Google, they also have a shelf with various devices on it, including many from North America & also several rare ones, at their place of business:

All in all, a very interesting & unique company if you ask me.

I had no idea that the Philippines had American fire alarms.

You never know honestly, especially since some parts of the world likely get at least some of their devices from North America due to not having any local or nearby manufacturers.

I have a couple thoughts:

  1. This is really cool
  2. I feel like they must’ve just gotten their hands on some old 2001 hardware, and then they just reverse engineered it, and started making them as their own products. The patents are probably expired, and they wouldn’t apply there anyway.
  3. If this is true, someone has to find a way to get their hands on this stuff.

Mhm.

Yeah. Kinda-bizarre though given how old the 2001’s design is & thus how little one would think it would work in the industry today.

What exactly?

I was referring to what I said earlier, about how they might be reproducing the smaller 2001 panels. If they really are making reproduction 2001 components, enthusiasts ought to try to find out how to get ahold of them.

Oh, okay. Who knows if they’d be compatible with actual 2001s though.

They also have what looks like a first alert or BRK smoke alarm on the site

Yup a rebranded BRK/First alert 83R

You say “rebranded”, but I’m fairly certain that it’s actually more of a knockoff instead.

Just like the panels. I guess they’re too lazy to come up with their own designs, and the regulations must not be too strict there.

Well, maybe, but not only are 83R knockoffs nothing new, their products seem fairly well-designed to me.
