rare fire alarms

since we have topic for smoke alarms, why not one for fire alarms? This can include both modern and older alarms of all types installed or in your collection.

I’ll start with my latest alarm, a 110 VAC IBM 4030-1. Now 4030-1s have a single projector right?

not this one:

No it’s not modified.

Also note the different grill than most surface 4030s

The more typical grill, this one is my 12 VAC 4032-1B. I’ve also seen pics of a similar grill with clover shaped holes.

Nice, I’ve never seen one with a grille like that…very odd.

I think we had a topic on rare alarms, but it must have slipped through the cracks. I’ll post a few here and there.

A black Simplex t-bar, nickel finish Wheelock ET-70, and a Soundolier speaker.

Do you think the T-bar came like that from the factory, or was it painted afterwards? It looks spray painted to me.

I think we can safely say the M69, even more so, alarmguy’s Grinell M69-4!

The Simplex pull was made black at the factory. I’m not too familiar with the manufacturing process of plastics, but I know that some is molded as a colored plastic and some is painted after the fact. The black plastic on this was made the same way a BG-10 is molded with red plastic. It won’t rub off with acetone or any other type of paint remover.

Never would have thought they Simplex made their T-Bars in any other color…let alone black! If they did make them in other colors, you would have thought they would have at least made them in white. In terms of unusually colored pull stations, I thought the gold coated RSG T-Bar was unusual (can be seen on the RSG datasheet). This is definitely the first I’ve seen of a BLACK pull station. I’m curious about what applications those black pull stations would have been used for, especially considering that these are for fire alarm use.

As for the nickel finished ET-70, that looks very nice. Nice to know of an enthusiast that has one.

Here’s a few more:

First: Edwards 895B-301 Second: Simplex 2904-xxxx and Third: System Sensor MASS24LOLA

I have a couple. In order, my Canadian Sound & Signal A5-6 Bell, My Edwards 1047 bell, and my Edwards 272-SPO.

Another rare one, based on condition.

A NiB 120 volt Faraday 122, aka what we commonly refer to as the Type 2

Since I have 2 other working ones, I’m not touching this one.

^Nice. I remember when a seller had a bunch of NIB Faraday items a few months ago. I helped myself to a few.

Now for some more pics: United Security Products 7002 knock-off, Faraday-branded 270, and a vertical V33 light.

More rarities landed on my doorstep, and cost me a chunk of my tax return  (my apologies if I outbid anyone here).

A lot of 34T+PR2s and a lone PR2 both common, but what was with it is the rarities:

4 Notifier BG-1s (3 pictured) and an Edwards 881D-AW+120E (missing a bulb).

Also got 2 450D series D a few weeks ago

Would these be from this auction?

There is a topic about it in the flea market.

It would seem that way.

I would say it was, considering its the exact items from the listing.

haaaaa.

so apparently there’s at least two people on this forum willing to drop that much on certain alarms… all that over speculation. those two should confer on future auctions, they would’ve saved a boatload of cash.

I have a Chemetron EPB Spot
