Well, there is high gloss paint. It might have been manufactured red. I am indeed seeing new alarms on this board every week.
The Simplex 4045-13. No documentation was found on this alarm any on the internet.
The 4045-13? I think Dan M.'s middle/high school had those in several areas, except they were the non-fire version, single-stroke and were flush-mounted behind grilles. (The actual alarms were originally older 10-inch Simplex bells, now they are newer Simplex bell/strobes.) A couple of the chimes were replaced with bells so they could be louder.
Where did you get the pics? Are they in your collection? They look uninstalled.
That pic is from an eBay auction years ago. Don’t think anyone ever bought them.
I used to think that the Simplex 4051 plates in my middle school were also painted red. Until I did some digging through a yearbook and discovered otherwise.
I’ve had this picture on my computer for a while now.
I have never saw those light plates ever before. Damn they are very unique.
Hmmm, I’ve never seen those in ceiling mount.
Though for ceiling mount, wouldn’t the horn be facing sideways so that the Simplex logo is readable?
Maybe not, because just the light plate is ceiling mount. They might be wall mount, also.
The Westminster Mall in Colorado actully had wall mount 2904s on the ceiling. The Fire Marshall of Westminster said they were supposed to be ceiling mount ones. Very rare pics we have on here. And a video of red Ceiling mount 2904-9103s WAS on youtube, but I searched and couldn’t find it.
When I first saw the 2903s, I thought it was chinese.
I have came across a few rare alarms in my days. Does anyone remember me posting this pic:

If you look to the right of the Wheelock bell, it is a wierd horn, one I have never seen anywhere except this school in my city. The MS paint drawing is what it looks like if you’re standing right infront of it. There is a small screw in the middle, and there is a metal plate under the grille which looks ‘loose’ so to speak. The pulls in the older part of the school are those old standard pulls. I have one in my collection as well.
I found these rare too, This is the only time I’ve seen these. They are Notifier pulls, but they are basically wider, the size of my hand almost.
As some previously stated in this topic, Atlas speakers. These were outside, at some college.
A Blue horn that I found outside of a school.
And this one, An Edwards 270-SPO without the glass rod insert. In my collection, I also have some rare items, such as my Edwards 6" gray fire bell, My Canadian Sound and Signal Ltd. 6" fire bell, and Edwards 274-111 pull station, and an assortment of Adaptabels from different eras.
Ah, the elusive Notifier pull station! I’ve only seen those at my local airport and always wondered why they were so large compared to “normal” NFM-series pull stations. Strangely enough, documentation about these devices appears to be inexistent (at least on the Internet) even though they were manufactured in the last few years.
That blue horn on the school sort of reminds me of a Faraday horn.
Maybe they had people with bigger hands in mind when they made them? Those pulls were installed in Sheridan College in Toronto, in the Athletic + Tech wing.
That blue horn on the school sort of reminds me of a Faraday horn.
I think it’s Benjamin.
