I’ve been wondering and studying about nyc pull stations
I believe anytime you see a pull station with a white stripe that that indicates that it’s NY-spec (because they require a white stripe on stations to indicate that it’s only a local alarm for some reason).
I thought the stripe meant that it was a central alarm
Pretty sure there’s no such term as “central alarm”: “local alarm” usually means that a fire alarm system does not automatically call the fire department in the event of a fire: no idea why so many systems in NY are like this to be honest though.
the stripe indicates it will contact the Fire Department automatically and is not a local alarm, code requirement for it was removed around 2008 when all systems were required to automatically contact FDNY, so it serves no purpose anymore but some brands still make them as NYC models.
Oh okay, had it backwards then.
