Neat!
What exactly is the difference between the 4251-111 & the 4251-115, do you know? (since otherwise the two seem to be identical)
I actually have an early 4251-series station myself, mine is a 4251-50 though.
I took a closer look at my 4251-111 and 4251-115 and the only difference I could notice is a slightly different button. The 4251-111 the button is easy to push. On the 4251-115 it actually takes force to push it, and you can hear it click in/out (when pushed).

I wonder if that has to do with a difference in switch design, since I believe some models of the Chevron use mercury bulb switches while I think others use more standard “contact” switches.
i’ve never seen any prototype 4251-20s, but I believe my high school has the second generation versions with the plastic handle and metal button–building is from 1972
I don’t know if they’re necessarily prototypes but that’s what the 4251-series looked like at one time before Simplex updated the design to the “current” one (“current” when they were still making them at least). Not sure what the story is with some 2nd-gen ones having metal buttons & others having plastic buttons though (I believe I have a 2nd-gen 4251-20 with a metal button however).
The second generation ones have the plastic handle with the arrow pointing down without the notch–I think around 1980 is when they started using plastic buttons
Yeah: as far as anyone knows there are only two generations of 4251-series stations, & that’s one of them.
Ah: must mean that the sole metal button 4251-20 I have was made sometime during or before 1980 then.
I think yours was probably produced in the early 70s. there are versions with the plastic handle that have a metal button and I believe those were produced around 1972 to 75
Could have been, since mine is otherwise identical to a plastic button 4251-20.
