apartment smokes are usually independent from the building system.
At least one of the other complexes here has TrueAlarms in the apartments tied into the building system
There could be a lot of reasons for that, including the size of the different buildings, if they’re sprinkled or not, the age of the building, and whether or not it’s dedicated to apartments or if it’s mixed use.
Generally though, they don’t need to be on the building system. If the place is fully sprinkled, common in pretty much all newer buildings, you normally won’t find system smokes in rooms just standalone ones. Even when there are system smokes in the rooms on sprinkled buildings, it’s usually just for convenience of the GC and owner and those alarms won’t set off the building notification system.
Well this one I don’t think this one is common. One untrusting thing is that I’ve seen these with the red led in the middle on and this one was off. I found that a little strange
Here’s a Sears smoke alarm. I think it has a piezo.
As if Probe smoke alarms aren’t rare enough, here’s an alarm that might be rarer. It appears to be a re-branded Probe 202. This one is made by National Peripheral Corp… I’ve never heard of them.
That Sears does seem to have a piezo. I would bet that if it does, then it is a rebranded Gateway. If it has a mechanical horn, most likely it is a rebranded BRK.
Also, REALLY rare probe 202 rebrand! Great find! I wonder if it has the same Kobishi 120v AC squealer as the probe models, and the FireX and SmokeGard model?
That Sears does have a piezo. It does 4/6. And you might notice one of the bars is missing, that’s not damaged, that’s how they were designed. I have one in storage.
An interesting foreign rebrand of the First Alert SA80FD. Sadly the seller didn’t take a good focused picture of the back of the box.

Older Smoke Sentinel.

SA80FC, despite listing title.
Does the SA80FC have an squealer horn? What year would be from around as well?

The SA80FC has a piezo alarm, and are from the mid '80s I’d say. There might have been models with squealer horns however.
Ok thanks, I remember one time seeing one of these alarms but it had the awful screechy noise (aka squealer). I know this may have been discussed but is the SA76RS the only first alert with a squealer horn. The RS is also the original first alert model as well right?
Actually there was a model before the RS called the SS-74R which looked and sounded exactly like the SA76RS but didn’t have a test button.
Also, check out this old First Alert with the escape light in this video! It isn’t a SA120 cause they have a larger ring around the outside of the cover.

It’s a BRK 1200, very rare. Also there’s a 907. Plus in another promo for the same series featured an extremely rare Honeywell CD200+light.

Note I might call dibs on this. First Alert SA769 line-cord powered unit.
Older Kidde w/light — Code One 2000 rebrand. This was before they took over/bought out Fyrnetics/Lifesaver. They also had a Gateway Scientific rebrand in the late '80s, they looked like

That Gateway rebrand resembles a Sears without the bars going across the vents. Also, that line cord First Alert SA769AC is really really rare. I hope you get it!
So this isn’t a smoke detector rather a pull station but look, a white fire suppression FM 200 ms 2. The stopper should say “lift then lift then pull”
Won the First Alert! However since I’m going to be on vacation until the 21st or so I won’t get to an unboxing/testing vid until then.
