Here’s some MasterGuard/Gentex alarms, but notice the really old ones! (the ones where the sides have only half the vents on them) They also have the EM horns in them. They’re from Jan. 2 1981. Wonder what the Gentex model # was?
Very cool! It does have a slightly different sound from the SA769AC and the 1769ACI, from hearing them on YouTube. BRK did indeed make these horns. Pittway has a patent on them. Here’s a link to the patent:

They also have a patent on a DC squealer, but from what I’ve seen on here and on YouTube, the Pittway and BRK DC alarms use the Kobishi CLB-27 horn. Here’s a link to the patent on their DC horn:

It’s interesting how your 1839ACI uses the newer '80s sensor. Mine uses a metal sensor, as you can see in the attached picture. There’s also a metal plate above the chamber. It does use the same horn as yours though.https://cdn.thefirepanel.com/legacy/368_bf2fb2c7b307264d8c1dbda5dbba7c64.jpg
Ah, yours must be earlier since it uses the “false alarm” sensor with the large openings the same one that’s in my SA76RD. I also noticed that the label on your is slightly different, and the issue number is smallee which would suggest that yours was made before mine.
Also I wonder if the DC squealer that Pittway made was shaped so weird like their AC squealer.
Yeah, I thought mine might be earlier. They weren’t made for that long though. Fire Alarm Fan posted a picture awhile back from his catalog binder of BRK’s 1983 product lineup, and this alarm wasn’t in there. Someone else said on here that they made these until 1988. The longest they were made for then is four years, which would probably explain their rarity. I don’t think Probes were made for that long either. This is, of course, compared to the FireXes, particularly the FX1020-style alarms and their small alarms of the '90s. Both of those were made for quite some time, and could be found everywhere. BRK, then, must have switched to their newer sensor between 1984 and 1988, while these alarms were still being made.
According to their patent, Pittway’s DC horn had a much more normal shape. I wonder though why they used the Kobishi horns instead.
