Not me that’s for sure, my wife would not be too happy with me if I did.
Besides I already snagged another one the other day: A Honeywell CD200A.

I’m guessing they either collect them him/herself, or know the value. Or are genuinely smoking something.
Definitely the latter…they had to be smoking something for sure. $352 (US) for a vintage 1976 smoke detector is way too overpriced putting it mildly. That is about $464 (Canadian). I looked it up online. I would be very afraid to spend that much and even more take the detector out of the box and test it once it arrived. Good luck on whoever gets it.
EGD-5S.
Also I’m getting an extremely rare Protector smoke alarm from Gamealarm on YT. He found 2 at a Goodwill and is sending one to me. They look something like a GE 8201 series, but are photoelectric (incandescent bulb), line-cord powered and have a 9V battery that serves not as a backup, but as a power failure alarm. There’s an ad for one in the November 1977 issue of Popular Science, available on Google Books, p. 198.
I took at look at the magazine add online and does it ever resemble the GE 8201’s. With the exception of the red test button I would say they are nearly identical. Also too for a smoke detector in 1977 that would be very cheap I would think. Some detectors back then were over $50.00. I also saw your video that you made. You said you think this one might pulse? It will be very interesting to hear how it sounds. Looking forward to seeing the video once the detector arrives. These things as you said must have been very rare and I take it not on the market very long.
EGD-5S.
And it’s now in my collection:
powered
Nice EGD-5S! Looks just like mine but in much better condition and not at all as yellowed since mine was in use before I replaced it. Yours, like mine, has the piezo horn but I’ve heard that some of the earliest ones had the AC squealer horn.
The Protector smoke arrived yesterday, but there’s no model to be found

Here’s the back, with partial price tag still intact.

BTW If you’ve never seen Gamealarm’s videos, by all means check them out. He has some rare and cool alarms in his collection. And also I believe he’s the one who we got the term “Squealer Horn” from.
MY HOLY GRAIL!Sorry for the overly large text…
I know it may sound dumb/unnecessary but please do not bid.
My holy grail, You just made my week . Bid placed.
If anyone wants an 800A.
FG777 w/white button. One cover latch is broken, probably could superglue it. I need to show pics of some of my newest acquisitions.
You thought that other Norelco Smokey was expensive? Well……
Nice low-priced Sears dual sensor:

10:28 - Shows what looks like the SA79TA, almost looks like the 79TA/79R’s circuitry from the reflections, but with the 76RS’ side vents, (smaller that the 79TA’s) and the 76RS sound can be heard dubbed in also. I wonder if they had a version of the 79TA but with the 76RS’ PCB?
Here’s a VERY rare smoke alarm that I’ve never heard of before. a BRK 77R. It appears to be a battery version of the 769AC-I. I can’t tell if the squealer is the Kobishi CLB-27 or not, but it probably is. Fire Alarm Fan may have heard of it
Yep, it’s basically the BRK version of the SA76RS. I have a couple, and my Mom’s brother had them in his old house.
Z-100 AC Hardwired Vigilante. 7 available, I know at least 1 member (or ex-member) who had one in their house, mentioned in my eBay browsing videos.
