Hi Guys I am very excited that it looks like I will be getting a First Alert (smoke alert) SA76RS. I got a reply from bmcorkle today. I had replied to his post several months ago and he had forgotten about it until now. He will be shipping it out as soon as he can. The detector was in his house when he bought it a year ago. I will let you all know when it arrives. I have wanted one of these for a long time. I just hope nothing goes wrong during shipping. I don’t think it will though.
Wow, I also received another SA76RS from a realtor at an open house yesterday. Of course the one I got will be going to a fellow collector as I already have one.
Cool! is it someone on here who is getting it? I am getting very excited about getting my “RS”. It is coming from Ohio so it doesn’t have to travel that far as I am in South western Ontario. Again as you know my parents had the Sears version of this detector and funny thing is growing up I don’t recall seeing a lot of SA76RS’s. Sears on the other hand I have seen and heard several. This will be my second detector but first battery powered one in my collection. The second one being the Nortron TR88 A/C powered detector. As well as the my one 1960’s Gardsman bell.
Hey guys, I am getting very excited. As some of you know I am getting First Alert (smoke alert) SA76RS from bmccorkle. It just checked the status of it today and it is on its way so I should have it by early this coming week. Hopefully this Monday or Tuesday. I will be posting pics here and videos of it on youtube. As silly as it sounds I never saw one of these growing up but I have seen and heard several of the Sears units. I may have seen one several years ago but never heard them go off. Again I can’t wait. I will finally have a vintage battery powered smoke detector with a squealer horn. :). No bad thoughts on it getting lost in transit now. LOL!
Oh ok yep I have seen a few of his videos on youtube. I just checked the status of my SA76RS and it looks like it has made its way the Canadian border. Okay getting very excited here, Looks like I could have it tomorrow. I may not be home when it arrives but my landlord is aware I have a package on its way for me. I also told him if he hears a high pitched squeal coming from the basement (my apartment) not to worry. LOL! I will be posting pics of it tomorrow if it arrives and hopefully videos on youtube the same day if not the day after. By the way on youtube I go by Jan Eaton. I had another youtube account when I had a Hotmail address but I had too many problems and I got rid of it. Since I have had this one with a Gmail account no problems so far. This will be my first video by me on youtube so I might be a bit shaky when I talk but you will finally get to see me for the first time. I will also be showing my other two alarms as well.
Also as well when I do make a video I will be testing it with the test button as well as using smoke but it has to be from a candle as I can’t smoke in my apartment. Im also going to test with the cover on and off. Debated weather to use earplugs or not as this sound used to bother me as a child. Decided to not use the ear plugs. After all I was after this detector and now it looks like I am about to own it.
Well guys look what finally arrived…TA DA!!! My First Alert SA76RS. Thank you so much bmccorkle. Yes it definitely worked and I jumped a bit. Definitely a sound from my childhood. Eventually videos will be going on youtube again I am nervous when I speak on video so be a bit patient. I am just so happy. Also too these are smaller than I had thought. I thought it would be bigger considering it’s a 1970’s detector. One pic is of me holding the detector. Oh yeah even after I took the battery out about 5 seconds later it let out a very short beep. Is is supposed to do that? Kind of freaky when it did that.
Hey guys I am going to try one more time to post the pics if it doesn’t work can anyone here help me? I have posted pics here before so I don’t know what’s going on.
Oh okay I was using the attachments. Thanks for letting me know. It is too bad it doesn’t work now. I am going to try and post them the way you said to. The serial number on the back of my SA76RS is 415115 so I don’t know what year that would have been made but if I had to guess I would say 1977. Also too what would cause it to emit a short beep about 5 seconds after removing the battery? Hopefully this time the pics work.
I tried again using pics from my Gmail account if that is what you meant by hosting site and it isn’t working. Again Im likely doing something wrong. Too bad the attachment feature won’t work. Hope it will soon.
You cannot attach images from a personal Gmail account, you need to use a third-part image hosting website. Then you should be able to follow the instructions that electronicwiz101 linked.
