The Vantronics Rescue II residential photoelectric smoke detector (I havent figured out the model number yet) is really cool. It has a blue horn that does continuous and the led is steady when it goes off, It takes two batterys for some reason and I dont really know why.

Those are made by ESL. One of my friends has the regular ESL version but I think his takes one 9v battery. It also has the blue MuRata piezo and sounds in continuous.
So after being inactive on this forum for several months, I figured I’d show some of the most recent updates to my smoke alarm collection. These are all alarms that I’ve acquired within the last couple of months or so.
-Gillette Captain Kelly 941. It is a 120VAC line cord powered photoelectric unit from the late 70’s or so. I believe it is a rebranded ESL 206.
-Sunbeam Centurion II 45-51 from the late 80’s or so. It is a rebranded FireX FXB.
-Radio Shack 49-466. It is a rebranded Universal SS-750, which I believe is a rebranded Probe 101, not positive though. Again, this is a late 80’s early 90’s or so unit.
-First Alert SA67D, first generation version. This is the slightly more uncommon variant with a white test button. These were made is the late 80’s, and some of the earlier versions were labeled as SA76RD. I have the box for it in storage.
Some technical error wouldn’t allow me to attach the photo I was going to attach, but I think you get the idea of what they are.

Whoa! Nice
Thanks. I’ve got a couple more on the way as well. A Mastercraft 52-0256, which is pretty much just a Canadian 77R rebrand that uses the same cover design as the Montgomery Ward models. I also won an auction for a Sears 246.57045, which is a 77R/SA76RS rebrand as well, so I’ll be getting that too.
Dan has the Wards version of the 77R/SA76RS, I haven’t seen the Mastercraft version though I did know it existed. Those old Sears’s are classics as well.
The listing I bought the Mastercraft from was interesting. There was originally one listed, which was bought, and then another one by the exact same seller was listed a few weeks later, which I bought. Not exactly sure what the scenario was there. Evidently, Elevator Man16 on YouTube bought the first one. Here’s his video:

Well at last, here they both are! To my surprise, both were completely sealed in their boxes.
Here are a few neat ones I found on eBay recently:

FireX FXW-1A with tiered test button.

Amway E-8964, rebranded SmokeGard 809A9. Has the low battery tester, as most Amway models did.

Entronic Vigilante II ES-7 with a test button.
Well boys the Entronic Vigilante 2s are gone now. F in the chat
By the way, I have a discord server which has fire alarm channels, so if you want to, check that out.
I created this account just for one unit. I owned a electronics recycling company for many years and received many rare and weird things. After leaving the industry I only saved this one item , why? Because I could never find ANY information about it and that is rare for me , after tons of internet searches and just browsing vintage smoke detector photos as well as sending pictures to 2 40 year plus firemen no one has ever seen this unit or could give me any information.
it has a jewel light on the back , and peaking inside it does still have the “spare bulb” inside which very much resembles a vacuum tube , very retro graphics on the company’s sticker , I have never plugged it in because dealing in vintage electronics I know better lol (ive replaced so many main power capacitors in my life I lost count) , I have attached a quick video as I had nowhere to host photos, hopefully one of you experts can help me out , I am looking to sell it as I am not a collector.
Welcome to the forum Jesse, nice collection of detectors. I have been a member of the Fire Alarm Panel for about the past 4 years and I have a small collection (five) alarms in total but I just put a bid on what looks to be a rare one of a kind Montgomery Wards from the late 1970’s I would say 1977 or 1978 but looks just like a Fyrnetics of that era. I won the Sears rebrand from December 1977 back in March just a few days before the pandemic was declared. Now that some restrictions have been lifted (Im in Canada) I am going to try and bid again. It doesn’t end until Sunday but wish me luck but there is alot of similarities to my Sears alarm here. Including the rare red label and I like the graphics on the box. If I get it this will be my second Ebay purchase.
