Welcome to the forum Jesse, nice collection of detectors. I have been a member of the Fire Alarm Panel for about the past 4 years and I have a small collection (five) alarms in total but I just put a bid on what looks to be a rare one of a kind Montgomery Wards from the late 1970’s I would say 1977 or 1978 but looks just like a Fyrnetics of that era. I won the Sears rebrand from December 1977 back in March just a few days before the pandemic was declared. Now that some restrictions have been lifted (Im in Canada) I am going to try and bid again. It doesn’t end until Sunday but wish me luck but there is alot of similarities to my Sears alarm here. Including the rare red label and I like the graphics on the box. If I get it this will be my second Ebay purchase.
hi jamesbennett1983. I don’t know much about these other than they are from the 1960’s and are old and rare and what was before the battery powered units. I might be interested in it. Does the alarm still work? I am more interested in battery powered vintage units and I am a collector as well. I got my 1977 First Alert Sa76rs via this forum a few years ago from someone who was not a collector. I already put a bid on a Montgomery Wards unit but I won’t likely know until Sunday if I get it or not. Hope to talk again.

Hey Helen75 hows it going??? I noticed your post above about the Entronic Vigilante 2 no longer being available. If you are interested here is one up for grabs. You helped me get the Sears unit so if I can help you get this one I don’t mind at all. It is from the same seller who is selling the very rare Montgomery Wards unit that I bid on not long ago. 8) 8)
I created this account just for one unit. I owned a electronics recycling company for many years and received many rare and weird things. After leaving the industry I only saved this one item , why? Because I could never find ANY information about it and that is rare for me , after tons of internet searches and just browsing vintage smoke detector photos as well as sending pictures to 2 40 year plus firemen no one has ever seen this unit or could give me any information.
it has a jewel light on the back , and peaking inside it does still have the “spare bulb” inside which very much resembles a vacuum tube , very retro graphics on the company’s sticker , I have never plugged it in because dealing in vintage electronics I know better lol (ive replaced so many main power capacitors in my life I lost count) , I have attached a quick video as I had nowhere to host photos, hopefully one of you experts can help me out , I am looking to sell it as I am not a collector.

That looks to be a very early Pyrotector rebrand, probably from the mid 60’s. I know they made a lot of different styled alarms back in the day, I believe they had the patent on the residential line cord operated photoelectric smoke alarm back then of course before ionization became the standard for homes.
Also, two more Vigilante II ES-7’s were listed on ebay a few days ago, both retail models NIB. When I got mine I had said that they were rarer than rare but I’m rethinking that statement now (well, at least for the retail models which I believe had different horns due to a photo someone had shared with me on flickr).
One of the sellers who has one of the ES-7’s also listed that Montgomery Wards posted above, which is indeed a direct rebrand of the Fyrnetics F-900D. They also had an extremely obscure unusual Westclox for sale that looked like almost a direct copy of a First Alert SA76RS, though Nathaniel bought it and I am eagerly awaiting his video
I can’t wait to see the Westclox video from Nathaniel either. Must be a real obscure unit since the only Westclox units I have ever seen were square, (my parents had one). I figured the Wards unit was a direct rebrand of the Fyrnetics. That being a Wards rebrand still makes it rare though and I hope I get it so far I checked there has only still been one bid placed. I also again like the box it came in as well. Detectors back then had boxes with neat graphics and ones that were too the point and would catch the consumer’s eye into purchasing it. It would also be be neat since I have the Sears Early One and have this one as well.
Another question I have but are the covers on the Sears Early One and the Fyrnetics F0009 interchangable since they have the same base? I know the Sears has the hinged cover which also comes off one way.
Yes but the covers aren’t normally supposed to come all the way off due to the hinges.
Oh okay when I got my Early One the cover slid off I thought I broke it but it slides back on one way I never took it off again. I remember years ago my Dad taking the cover off the Early One we had in our old house so he could clean it off. I forgot that they did that until I got the init. So far I am still the only bidder on the Montgomery Wards alarm so I might be able to get it or a good chance I will. It is the first Wards alarm I have seen with a Fyrnetics cover so I would say this is rare.

I have not tested it yet because I was worried about hurting it as I know it has probably not been plugged in for a very very long time , I do want to sell it as I am not a collector so if anyone is interested feel free to send me a offer and we can work something out

It looks like you are correct! , looking that up quickly it looks like it is the same body as a Pyrotector 255!
I didn’t win the Montgomery Wards unit. I was outbid with in the last few hours. That is okay I m hoping to buy a 1977 Amway Detector tomorrow. I hope I get it
I will be getting one of these soon…Im very excited!!!

Im willing to pay up to $50 for it but It might take me 4 weeks from now to get the money
Haven’t been active on here in over a month so I figured I’d show off all of the detectors I have acquired since then.
Here they are in order from when i received them:
- Black & Decker SMK6D/M1. Nothing too much to say about it other than that it is made by Ei Electronics and is the later variant with a half closed grille.
- Ultra rare Family Gard unit from the early 90s, an FG1000C, based off of the BRK 1201. Oddly enough it uses the same grille pattern on the cover as the Wake 'N Warn 83R-based detectors did, except with an added Escape Light in the middle.
- GE Home Sentry SMK-6. Once again, nothing too much to say about this one. I’m pretty sure the SMK series detectors came after the 820X series detectors but I’m not positive.
- A detector that I received from a fellow member, a Jameson React RS-1, based off of the late 80s-early 90s FireX FXB (smaller base, smaller bracket) variant. Has a square cover which is what I particularly like about it. The downside is that the unit doesn’t work due to an exploded battery that seemed to have infected the internals, however it was offered to me for free and it is definitely a neat display piece. I am glad to have it.
I also recently ordered a NIB BRK 1839ACI, which partly I bought for pitty reasons because it had been just sitting on ebay for quite some time now, as well as a Jameson Code One CD-1 which was based off of the earlier 80s FireX FXB variant which is ALSO what my Sunbeam 45-51 is based off of. Be looking forward to those soon.

just let me know, I dont check this often but you can always e mail me at with offers or to set up purchase
That’s the same seller that me and Federal3t22 got ours from. He has multiple apparently.
I think this is his only other one. I pleaded for my dad to let me buy it, but he said I should use my $20 for something else.
That’s too bad, but it’s YOUR money.

Update its gone and I still have the 20$ I was gonna use
I might get this with it. The vigilante 2s are taking over!
