This might seem crazy, but could it be a janky light switch for that light? Maybe they had a pull chain fixture there before with constant power, and they replaced it with this smoke alarm and the light on the ceiling. It seems like a long shot, but I don’t know what else it could be. I guess it could be a weird test button, but that doesn’t make much sense.

I have no honest clue what that pull cord is there for, though I do know that the test button (or rather test knob as that’s what a lot of Gentex detectors have) is on the front (it’s the black circle next to the strobe).
I know that’s the “test knob”, but I guess maybe, if it is to test (or maybe silence) it, they might have done that because it is too high up to reach. Just like you, I have absolutely no idea.

Yeah it’s possible they might have rigged it up as a way to test the alarm, but could also suggest that this is a different alarm model that possibly hasn’t been discovered while online homesearching🤔Still not sure though.

Masterlock 2551! That’s nearly extinct!! I’m so glad I found this. It’s also close to where I live which is awesome, although I’m not entirely sure if I’m going to get it.

Exactly! Likely 5 or less of these have ever been seen. They are EXTREMELY rare. I think the only ones that have been found in a 3D tour were found by SmokeAlarmFanGuy and Photoelectric Elevators.
I won’t send the house address for safety reasons of course, but I found it on Realtor in a house from circa 1964.

I’m sorry but I have to come clean. Thats find of the year dude. I know there hasn’t been much finds this month but this is one of the rarest alarms to ever exist right now.
Also SmokeAlarmFanGuy didn’t find one. Only I did on his stream and it wasn’t this version. And two have popped up on ebay that NLind got one a while ago, and I almost had one 2 years ago but it got lost in shipping. And no, none of these are this linecorded variant. I didn’t even know these came wired let alone a linecord model…

Not this version. This variant is the only one to exist. The 2551’s are the more common models which I thought was battery operated.

Yeah I honestly wouldn’t be surprised that it’s find of the year as it is the first one of this version ever seen. But at the same time I’m surprised that I found that thing. Is this possibly rarer than that linecord Wells Fargo gas alarm from Homesearching Reactions episode 11?
I wouldn’t get too excited about that quite yet, although I’m keeping my fingers crossed, as I literally live an hour away from that thing. If I do end up getting it though, that’s a real milestone as no one has ever seen a linecorded version this before, let alone owning one. I think I already have contacted the listing agent about it but haven’t gotten super far as I haven’t gotten a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ from them. I offered to replace it or the legacy upstairs alarm with something new, however now that I searched the whole house I found that they already have a new Kidde i-series smoke alarm in the staircase.

Jaysum Criminals, what did I just walk into… I agree with you. That’s even rarer than your holy grail, that being the metal casing BRK SS718-SS. Thing even look like an SS718 looly.
It’s the first one we’ve seen of this version so it’s certainly rarer than the SS718. Great opportunity for us to crash. No crashscreens are needed though, we can save that for discord.
