Rare Smoke Detectors

Very nice! That’s a rare one for sure! Oh? Hmm…(to be fair though putting it that way kinda makes more sense since there’s fewer holes in that orientation)

Yeah, that’s what happens when a detector is from the 1970s, heh.

Mhm: the FG777 was specifically made without a test button: the FG777C is the clear test button version & the FG888C is the white test button version from what I’ve seen.

I don’t mean the test button, the test socket is the black circle on the PCB with the holes used for accessories. It’s rare to see one on a 77R type unit. here is an example on my Z700

Oh, that, had no idea that’s what you were talking about. What would that be used for exactly?

Accessories, or external tripping devices, like a heat sensor maybe.

Oh, okay. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a detector with anything plugged into a port like that though (I don’t even know how that would be done in the first place considering it seems like a plug intended for vacuum tubes to fit in).

My cool/rare stuff that includes modern and vintage. This isn’t all of my stuff obviously but just some alarms I want to highlight in my collection. Some notes to clarify confusion:

The Kidde KN-COSM-B is a rare version from 1999, making it a rare early model.

The more yellowed F900D is a Montgomery Wards version model 83-7-1650 00

The Fyrnetics 1285 is the earliest version known to exist (January 3, 1993).

The GE 8202-001 is an earlier model from 1975 with the Delta-Larm horn

oh yea ignore the FireX FADC up there, I forgot to put it somewhere else lol

Nice collection bro.

Is that the prototype or is a prototype version even older?

The prototype would be even older. The oldest KN-COSM-B known to exist so far is the one that BA&F Vintage owns.

I was just looking at the image closer and you found a Pyrotronics DI-6. The rarer cousin of the DI-4

You mean screenshit.

Btw I never seen that detector before. Try getting your hands on one.

Yeah I’m trying dw. Obviously not gonna be easy since I’d imagine these hardly exist but y’know

Not sure if it should go here since it’s modern, but here’s an extremely rare First Alert P1000 in cherry wood I got today. This one was made in 2014 April 2. This color is the rarest one you can find that’s not a prototype, the 4 released colors were white of course, copper, polished nickel, and cherry wood being the rarest out of the 4. The other unreleased colors include black, ebony, brushed brass, hickory rustic, Kentucky oak, etc.

Nice find!

Rarity doesn’t necessarily equal modernity you know (though often the older something is the rarer it is (to find).

Unreleased colors huh? Wonder why they were never released…

Neat! I got the ten tek version

Did Ten-Tek Electronics rebrand the 24VDC model too?

I found these two but I don’t know what model they are. Spotted in Edmonton on an iGUIDE 3D tour while online homsearching.

I got my hands on two NuTone system detectors. One is intact and the second has a broken filter.

Nice! Do they at least both work? (even if one has a broken filter (what exactly, mesh?)
