Rare weekend finds

Some rare finds from a school I went to for a band competition last Saturday.

FCI Ms-2 (Dual action)

Faraday bell for class changes. This is the first school i’ve seen to still use mechanical bells for changing classes.

I don’t know the exact model of the horn, but the plate almost looks like a Space Age plate. It may not be though since the font’s a bit newer looking.

Also found these at a truck stop that my dad frequently goes to.

DMD pull station.

A fire extinguisher made by BFPE.

aye my school uses bells
thing is is that they are random per building (idk the models tho :frowning: )

Yeah, that is rare to see these days: nowdays it’s more often the PA system that’s used for such (which does have its advantages including one less separate system to have to use & maintain).

That could possibly be a Space Age Electronics 2DCD, which is a rebranded Federal Signal Vibratone 450. 2DCDs were supposedly installed very commonly with AV32s (which would make sense given they’re the same brand). Could be any kind of electromechanical horn though.

That is a Space Age Electronics AV32, it’s just a newer version going by the lettering (older versions apparently have hollow lettering, while newer ones supposedly have filled-in lettering. The font may also differ between the two generations, I’m not sure though).

That’s actually “DMP”, in full “Digital Monitoring Products, Inc.”: they’re mainly in the security side of the life safety industry but they’ve dabbled in the fire side of things too somewhat.

Now there’s one fire extinguisher brand I’ve never heard of (unless it’s the name of the local service company instead: wouldn’t surprise me if service companies put their logos on extinguishers as well as fire alarm system devices like you see some do).

I was probably thinking of the older ones then (in regards to the Space Age plate).

Tons and tons of schools in my city still use mechanical school bells, including high schools. Here, they just don’t stop using a system unless they had a need to stop using it. I’ve always wanted a school bell controller, the one in my old elementary school was an Edwards type. & Some still have the old school Simplex time controller with analog clock. The brand new schools obviously use PA systems now.

Canada does seem to love bells in general so maybe that’s no surprise.
