I’ve been wanting to find information on the vista 20 about programing. Been thinking of reactivating it. Many of the old wireless sensors don’t work/removed after renovations. What newer products are backwards compatible with the system and how would I program they? The only information I have for it is the user manual.
Is this what you need Honeywell Vista-15P/Vista-20P - Program Guide - Dated 3/15 Rev. B - Alarm Grid
I know this is a little old but it wasn’t until recently we are starting to think about the viability of using this system and how a security system would be a nice safety measure. I didn’t realize how much work would need to be done to get it working. The system is a Ademco vista 20, which there is no specification if it’s a 20p or 20se. The biggest issue is that there are no alpha keypads only fixed English ones. As stated previously the motion sensor is missing the lens, the smoke detector was removed and some basement sensors were also removed. Many of the sensors are wireless however there are some hardwired zones. We’ll also like to self monitor the system. We have no knowledge of any of the codes and the original installer didn’t give the previous owners the codes, it also doesn’t help that the system has no power supply. Would it be better to go with a DIY system, upgrade this one to a newer compatible system or get this one working?
I think it would be worth a try, as long as you are willing to do a little bit of wiring and programming. You can find pretty cheep transformers on eBay. There are default programming codes I can PM you if you’d like. It’s pretty easy to replace a fixed keypad to an alpha one. There are a ton of videos on YouTube explaining wiring and how to program a new code. PM me if you need help!
So currently my biggest problems are identifying where the power wires were cut back at, getting the battery disconnected as it’s corroded as it’s stuck to the wires and figuring out if it’s a 20p or 20se. I also looked up the monitoring company and it said that they were on the other side of the country (Either they moved, a company with the same name went out of business or they cut back).
